Social media is one of the best ways to amplify your brand and the great content you’re creating. But in order to amplify your brand successfully, you need to build and manage your social media presence constantly. Even with social media algorithms, it’s important to get engagement within the first few hours of posting so that your posts are seen by more of your audience.

One of the most common complications when it comes to social media marketing and management is finding “the right time to post.” It’s not just enough to post whenever you feel like it, some times are undeniably better than others.

The best times to post to every social media site:

Instagram

With Instagram, think “break time.” Highest engagement peaks are usually first thing in the morning, when you’re waking up. Or midday, when you’re taking your lunch break. Even weekends aren’t showing much of a difference than weekday engagement peaks. However, engagement falls off dramatically early Sunday and Monday in the morning.

Facebook

Facebook still sees some organic engagement, but that’s growing rarer as more and more companies begin heavily relying on social media marketing. So when to post? Well, studies show that engagement typically peaks midday on weekdays, specifically Wednesday or Thursday. The weekends, however, see much lower engagement rates than Monday through Friday.

Best times to post: Wednesday at noon and 2 p.m. and Thursday at 1 and 2 p.m.

Worst day to post: Saturdays

Twitter

There’s one thing you need to remember when it comes to Twitter: instant thought drives instant reaction. Twitter is used all of the time, some of the higher engagement happens during afternoons on Saturday and, throughout the week, engagement runs deep into the night with the sole exception being Mondays. Because Twitter is used so often and by so many— with about 3,500 tweets coming in every minute— it’s easy for your posts to go unseen. It’s useful to know when the best times to post so that your engagement remains high.
